Covid Vaccine : The 7 Indian companies are in the race
New Delhi: The number of virus victims has already crossed 1.4 crore. The death toll has reached 6 lakh. Experiments on the vaccine are progressing rapidly in various countries. Nearly seven companies from India are also involved in vaccine development.
Domestic pharma companies such as Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute, Zydus Cadila, Panacea Biotech, Indian Immunologicals, Biological E and Minwax are busy developing the vaccine.
> Biotech India has already received approval to conduct Phase I, Phase II clinical trials on its vaccine. The experiments on humans began just last week.
>The Serum Institute hopes to bring the vaccine by the end of this year. ‘We are currently working on an estrogenica oxford vaccine that is undergoing third phase clinical trials. We will start clinical trials in India this August, ”said Adar Poonawala, CEO, Serum Institute of India.
>Zydus Cadila is looking to complete clinical trials on his ZyCoV-D vaccine in seven months.
> Panacea announced in June that it was setting up a joint venture in Ireland with US-based Refana Inc. to develop a biotech vaccine.
> Indian Immunologicals, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, has entered into an agreement with Griffith University, Australia to develop the Covid vaccine.
> ‘Biological E ’, Minwax companies are also working for the development of the vaccine.
